It was early before sunrise. The moon was above my neighbor's house.

I was late. A little earlier the moon was much bigger and lit up the place with bright but still mysterious moonlight.

In the morning the windows were covered with fog.

The outside temperature was cold.

I put some cover at the window seal to keep some cold air out.

It happened to be a beach towel what I bought years ago in Spain. Brought back memories about wonderful warm times.

There are no more leafs on the trees, getting ready to be covered by snow in these days.

But the evergreens keeps the green color going all the time.

Thank God for that. I believe the color of

HOPE

GREEN.

holiday spirit everywhere

Busy time for most retail business, but selling live animals is a little different.
Little budgies are popular: does not cost much and a little bird in a little cage...... That is enough!
Birds are made to fly not kept in a cage!
No matter how small a bird is: wants to fly and be free just like you, my dear Reader!

Turtles are excellent model to take photos! I wish I would not do this in a "pet" shop, because I don't see how a turtle can be a pet? Doing what?
Above all: how to take care of them? Where do keep them ? In a box?
In a garden, where can be too cold for them?
After the initial excitement ( of the children getting "presents" ) these "pets" wound up in a place where nobody knows what happens to them.
Many are on the endangered species list facing extinction.
Mostly because of the human's activities..

Finally I got what I was looking for.

First of all: a Friendly store of a Pet Shop!

They welcomed me with my camera and let me go on the difficult road to take pictures of fast moving fish with the glare of a flashlight.

I have done such photo adventure in the past, but not with good results.

Now I had ArgO fish photo to find "company" for that single photo which is a very good pic!

No question: took many many shots, but very few usable pic!

Need more exercise and the store people like it!

Thanksgiving note

I made this blog accidentally. I wanted to spend the day quietly, no invitation was excepted. In the afternoon I got the idea to look around town what is happening?
Stores were closed, few people on the streets, but one store was open what was very unusual.
It turned out to be an excellent opportunity to take pictures in a mostly empty supermarket.
Nobody said anything as I was clicking the camera with flashlight. There were no people to bother me. So came the following blog.
No left over dead turkeys were my object, but rather "Nature's Beauties" in the Vegetable department.

In this region the Tomatoes are very popular. There is a section in this store only for them.

Finally I took a picture of an isle with nobody in it, the time was just perfect to take these picures.
After my camera was loaded with photos I asked an employee if I could take some photos? The answer was NO.

Well ofcourse not. What harm would do that to anyone or anything?????

So the funny Thanksgiving day was over with a load of photos in my camera.

To begin with I just went out with curiosity only to see what is going on in town? Stores were closed, exept this one which did give me this spledid opportunity to take secretly the pics what really did not make any harm but I could share them with my dear blogger friends!

On the left you see the pears in a great variety. This fruit has the ability to ripen with time while they can sit on the window seal as I do that with them. And they are sweet and juicy and delicious in a few days!

On the right you see the apples in all colors of the rainbow. Remember the saying:

Beauties in a store which was open on Thanksgiving Day. Was unusual, but for me was a splendid opportunity to take pics when very few people are in the store.

Melons at this time of the year already a luxury. But you see there the lovely Persimmons which are from the South ripening at this time. One of my favored!

This is a tree ready to go to sleep and has some interesting foliage close to the ground.

These roses are rare in this region as they bloom even when frost is hitting the ground.

This road was created to the Children's Habitat and each stone has a name for the children who are coming here to play.

In a wonderland has to be a lake. I found it not far from where I got out of the car. Really was wonderous with Canadian Geese chattering while swimming on the sunny side of the lake
There were so many beautiful sites I hardly could stop my camera's activity.

On the edge of the lake were big trees standing perhaps enjoying the always present water.

I can not find the words to tell you about this wonderland wondereous lake: in the sunshine with mellow air while listening the distance sounds of the geese discussing their happy life.

You did not have to hike the peak of mountains

to see what was right there

as you turned from left to right and

the amazing variety of landscape surrounded you.

Now just look down and you were walking in a living painting of Jackson Pollack

as the fallen leaves dripped under your foot like the paint of

the unforgattable painter of Long Island

who lived and died here to leave a memory

We have beautiful plumage and we can ruffle a little to keep warm, but we are eager to see you to bring some food if you come to visit our territory

I am very suspicious that you come here to take photographs to show our stunning appearance but if you have no food for us to keep ourselves beautiful remember:

Also I know more about food for you. Though you can go fishing what is best for your diet,

Before Thanksgiving

This is very frequently done in this town: a most beautiful Chrisantenum will be a base to make a turkey out of it. Thanksgiving is around the corner. You know: the Turkey eating festival.

Wish you a Happy Holiday, but I don't eat turkey and the holiday is for the natives. I don't have that background.

Inside the store the fruits and vegies are waiting for you.

He was the highlight of the day. We don't see like this very often.

Just look at some of the fallen leaves, they are so beautiful.

We fly in the wind as lifts us up and we just have to follow the motion of the current in the air and this is what gives us the wonderful feeling to be a bird.

At the shore life is busy with those birds they make a living from the water, but also good to be around they say, because the human visitors are nice with some supplement food. We love popcorn in butter! This is what we eat right here as the ground is covered with that sweet food of Love.

At his time of the year not only the vegetation changes, but also the aniamals getting ready for the winter if they stay here. This is how you can see now the black squirrels.

I am a black squirrel,-- you might guess the way I look. Call me some times fox squirrel, but I don't know why. I am a little bigger than the nearby living gray relatives, but we don't get along.

Here you can see from a distance how nicely we live in an order as the good gardeners planted us in the Spring.

This is at the edge of the Dahlia Garden and we nicely blend into the neighbouring trees with the pretty ripe red berries at this time

Here is the little girl surrounded with lot of love.

For the surprise of this day I found a very cute little guest coming to the nursery. She is a girl 8 years old and she is the member of a family. On this Sunday nicely dressed in Scottish skirt she had a mighty success with admiration.

Gourds belong to the Family of pumpkins with an amazing variety of forms and colors.

I went to a nursery where I found what Nature provide in the Fall

Before I go to get some more deco for the house I show you my birdfeeder. This is a place where you can have entertainement or learning serious lectures or watch a fight what ever you wish to see: the birds will provide!

From my garden: the trees before dropping the leaves they put up a most beautiful show of colors!

This is a very popular plant a CABBAGE at this time to decorate your house. It is a mighty creature of Nature, because can last during the winter in the cold weather.

ON THIS DAY of a surprise

the sun was hazy and it was very quiet on the beach. Some hungry birds were talking about the good old days of summer when the beach goers gave them plenty of food, but summer was over more or less.

I had my camera all wound up to take pictures even when there is nothing to see.

But wait! Hold your horses because surprise comes as a surprise. Just one couple was sitting near the parking where I got out of the car with my camera in hand. The man waived at me very enthusiastically to come closer to them.

And than the SURPRISE was there in a magnificent most beautiful parrot called the yellow-blue macaw! And was just so big, very friendly and a very loving animal. The Lady was the owner and told me that this was born in this country 14 years ago so he is not "wild". Certainly not, because he was a mighty tender kisser, also would give his "foot" to you to greet you! I could not believe about his unusual kind of behavior! They let me hold him on my arm, he lovingly stepped to my hand and he was very "heavy". Fat bird they said. But his plumage was never seen before deep colored and shiny in good health!

The surrounding seagulls were just admiring the show and patiently waiting for their turn to come. And if you wait, the "thing" will come.

The lovely couple slowly packed up and with "Angel" they started to go home, not far from here.

The patiently waiting seagulls gotten closer to me because they new the camera and with that the coming food.

Took some pics until the loaf bread lasted and than said good by after such an amazing event of the day.

May be you don't agree with me but then may be there are some humans who recognize the beauty in this animal.
He is very useful beside his delicate beauty. Eating a lot of insects and cleaning up the environment a spider like this should be appreciated.
As I opened the door this morning with this unbelievable grace of the long legs: 8 of them: he was moving across a step where I was going to go out of the house.
Silently and quickly he was just busy going after his business. But as I say: he was quiet and would not tell where was he heading in the morning mist?
I certainly waited until he got out of my way and would not injure those very long legs.
There is a reason to have 8 long legs and I guess there are some researcher finding out about Nature's mysterious creatures like this spider.
For me it was a moment of admiration that he was in perfect shape having the 8 legs moving in proper synchronization. Just think of it: humans have only 2 legs and even only with those 2 they fall and tumble and can be just so clumsy sometimes. Though not only the spider is an animal to have 8 legs,- but we know about Octopus who is a sea dweller and the amazing things what he can do with his 8 body parts and live happily ever after.

Nature's Beauties are not only in physical appearances but many more times in untouchable forms of spirituality like the expression of LOVE.

I got again in the mail some Beauties of Nature, but they are not visible. Certainly I can not make a copy of that kind of a photo here. But I tell you what are they: dragonflies. May be I can find some way to show you what kind of an animal that is. First of all it is an insect and they are not very photogenic to begin with. And now I really can not even go for browsing because some reason does not work. This is Blue Bird in total mix up, where is the answer to make a download to my blog?

I am one of them but I am unique and the only one.
My name is..... what ever you call me is all right. My origin is from of a big Family of GOURDS but I am different and that makes me unique! May shape is a most gracious delicate form with gentile lines and my color is a cheerful yellow but have unique patterns on my skirt painted by my Mom Nature! As you see a Member of the family curiously admire my beauty, because she thinks she is similar, but still
I am the unique! There is a conversation on the pic above in the middle of this post to discuss who is the most beautiful in the great big Family of GOURDS but now even other species like apples want to cast a vote!
In a beauty contest there are always emotions flying in high gear and the reality is: winning is not based on merit but only on the fact that I was born to be beautiful. That is the reason for for winning this contest. :-)

In the middle is Speckled Wood a mighty fellow perhaps he is a moth coming and going at night?
The Small white is also called Cabbage butterfly, because she east cabbage leafs before becoming a Butterfly.

Again with an exclusive photo from ArgO as on the previous blog. This is here : The Tortoiseshell Butterfly very common in the UK.
I did a little research on this animal among other information I learned that the striking patterns on the wings are actually for selfdefense. The article from an Encyclopedia said: When the butterfly is frightened than opens up his wings and it is believed that a young predator can be scared away by the bright yellow and striking black pattern . There is always something to learn from the Beauties of Nature!
Unfortunately where I live on Long Island N.Y. U.S. I do not see such beauties. I believe there is just a frantic chase against insects and many little wildlife in order to keep the humans habitation " nice and clean". What about the toxic chemicals to be used for this purpose? That is an other question to be raised.
I am happy that with my blogging I can share some information to you Dear Reader.
It seems that I am slowly but surely progressing in the maze of blogging! Sorry! But for me this is not so easy as it is believed to be. Not at the beginning anyway! Well I am just (a) : Blue Bird :)

It is not difficult to find out that the peacock Butterfly was named after the peacock bird fantastic pattern in his tail! Wonder when they meet on the road how do they relate to the names what the humans gave them?
